You know those ubiquitous waves spotted in just about all compass directions in Second Life? The ones made by Ante Flan? Yeah, I acquired some of me own—and not only that, I met Ante inworld at his home digs, the original site of the waves in Raccoon Valley. Always a powerful experience, meeting the inventor. Sadly my photo with him botched on upload to Snapzilla, but here's an appropriately-modded one.
Offline, it sounds absurd for "water to spread everywhere" in the way that, say, plant seeds would. Makes sense in here.
Got some quality time in to go sandboxin'—something I sorely lack sometimes. Up in the skies of Sandbox Island, Valkyeri Nino had something really unique: a megalithic astrocraft with many interior details. I asked her how she did it, and she's better at doing than explaining. So be it… I can relate. At this time, there was some asset server wonkiness going on, so some of my snapz got lost, but here's what I saw:
It's nearing 3000 prims. I'm looking for more tight spaces filled with goodness—which really wouldn't be spaces at all—come Second Life 1.9.1, because of occlusion culling (essentially, what you don't see doesn't get rendered, trimming da waste!). A favorite of mine: going into mouselook and sliding into these narrow corridors.
Eryn Curie and Vincent Delvecchio, Residents of Little Silent Hill in Braunworth, have SIX Happyhats now, including a meat one that emanates slabs of bacon or something. Kinda like that Japanese gameshow where the members of Morning Musume strapped on beef and poked their heads through holes, ready for the lizards to get 'em!
I went to the great Hair Fair 2006—today's the last day—something was crazy slow with my texture loading. The area took forever to come clearly into view, but WOW, what a sight. Heck, with all the beautiful hair, someone could make panoramic prints and frame 'em as art. Looks so crisp on my 204B. I am never looking back. I just hit up the Texture Console and watched memory usage increase.
I heard offhand amusement that this was being done in preparation for the forthcoming flexible objects—and hence, flexible hair—but natch, tori can't be made flexi (yet?). I've seen some good attempts using shaped boxes, prims, and cylinders tho…
