when is progressive… regressive?
Posted on: May 3, 2004Just an innocent question (so I hope). I am specifically referring to "progressive" electronic music and some of my internal frustrations with the redundant attitudes contained within. An opposing school of thought to mine supposedly says they want the music to go forward, but at the same berating and verbally punishing those who DO sound different. To a point I'm beginning to believe it's more about human psychological trickery than the actual music and personalities (producing and DJing) the music involved.

I'd have to say my line of thought is parallel with the public views of?greats (I sure make them sound like baseball players, don't they) like James Holden and Luke Chable. I stand up and applaud these guys (and I do wish there were more girls) for enjoying what they do and doing what they enjoy.
?
I'm sometimes an observer; sometimes a participant. I observe these things and know them (for the most part) to be true.

Right now I'm downloading the SNL episode that aired earlier this season with Donald Trump hosting. I'm a big fan of The Donald — yes, that includes The Apprentice — and I am looking forward to his "Trumped!" radio commentary come this summer. I realize the bits will be short but coming from such a man, they will definitely be sweet.

Also recently did some posting on some forums; I'm a busy guy but I like to contribute and chime in and help when I can. Good stuff.

(As I should state the obvious for my own bemused benefit, this is my first blog entry on here. Still very experimental, so let's see how it goes. My memory seems to be collapsing inwardly again so I suppose I will be referring to notes here time and time again if I forget something that might be semi-important.)

A short list (by no means complete) of great, great human beings I look up to, all of them celebrities in their own way:
?
-Alvin Toffler
-Michio Kaku
-Sasha Cohen
-Donald Trump
-Britney Spears
-Emma Caulfield
-Amber Tamblyn
-Brian Transeau
-Richard Hall
-Sunrise Adams
-Hayao Miyazaki
-Tom Green
-Stephen King
-Warren Spector
?
All of them, to my knowledge, are alive. As for the sadly deceased, I count my father and Isaac Asimov in there (I never thought I'd be saying *that* a couple of years ago!).

Almost 3 AM. Going to bed soon. I should start my days earlier, like The Donald. But I'm such a night owl and so many people I have to talk to from the other side of the world at this hour.
