If you like excellent dancefloor fillers — COMPARE! Esp. towards the end:
Sasha – “Who Killed Sparky?”
Nathan Pink – “The Sky Was Pink (James Holden Remix)”
The first came second. I haven’t heard the two mixed adjacently in a set yet, but here’s an op. Both are magnificent tracks, but I prefer the former because it has a subtle edge of variation and excitement which I’ve hardly heard since Holden’s own “A Break in the Clouds”, prolly one of the bestest electronic musics of ALL-TIME.
Another slice of delicious melodic + minimal (melinal? Minodic?) techy tuneage is Dada Life’s “Sweeter Than Fever (David West & Ida Engberg Remix)”:

It’s difficult to create something repetitious which grips and suspends you, pulling you into the next 8-bar section. But this does so, masterfully.
Shame they’re relative rarities. But then again, those are the true gems, innit?

Thanks for the share. Lately I've been getting more into … melinal as you put it.
^_^
The second one [Nathan Pink - “The Sky is Pink (James Holden Remix)” ] reminds me of some stuff I've heard James Lauer mixing. Through him I found Trentemøller, whose "The Last Resort" I find to be pretty incredible. It's one of those albums where at first I thought it was just a bunch of individual tracks that were mixed together with some overarching tempo/melody thematics, but then I realized it actually tells a story.
Also, on a mostly unrelated note, I think you might appreciate Alex Mauer, a pretty dedicated chiptune musician I came across. He released the first [as far as I'm aware] album strictly on NES cartridge.
Also slightly related is my recaptcha, "eagerly motor", which ties it back into it's kraftwerkian roots.
Anyway, enough rambling, Thanks Again for a great post Torley!
Very nice, I like being introduced to new music, the Torley way–stumbling on it at odd hours on your blog
I listened to Nathan Pink's track first, then gave the Sasha one a listen.
Love the first, will be adding it to my collection!Love both! The second is decidedly Sasha esque. Would have guessed it was Sasha without having seen the title.
@Joga: I've heard some Trentemøller and enjoyed it. Also enjoyed your description. I <3 a lot of chiptune remixes and will check out Alex Mauer; the description sounds familiar and I may've heard his work before without knowing.
@Amphithetre: ;D Do you know "Xpander" from the "good ol' trance days"? It still stands as one of my Sasha (co-produced with the boys from Spooky) faves!
@ Torley: Yup, I first heard Xpander on the Wipeout 3 soundtrack and haven't let it go since.
Yes it does! I thought the same when I first heard it – and I think that both tracks are unparalleled in the minimal genre.
@A: Did you find me by doing a search for both tracks? =)
