I was sick of seeing "improper" em dashes like this: –
Not good typography! It's commonly seen all over the web, even on top news sites, but it never sat quite right with me.?Earlier, to do a proper, long, straight-through-the-heart em dash, I had to resort to some hackneyed thingamaroo of copying and pasting it from an existing page.
Well, fed up, I set up some automation to let me substitute presses of Ctrl + – (confusing, eh?) and that'll give me this: ?
An experiment — hope it works! 
And for all your extralong dash needs —? muhahaha.
