In the "I learn something new every day" dept., I discovered YouTube can selectively mute videos, leaving their visual bits intact, yet stripped of sound… with a NOTICE. For example:
I'm blindly presuming here that the soundtrack wasn't cool with the copyright holder, yet MGM was fine with the fantribute. Or hasn't noticed it. And that's my next observation: there are a lot of music videos dedicated to Vala Mal Doran, her and Daniel Jackson, and various other shippy combinations. So many it's hard to find raw dialog scenes.
I googled for
"This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled."
and came across matches dating months back. So it's not new, but the first time I've noticed it — usually YouTube just takes down the whole vid. Interesting.

Do you think there is a way to get the sound still even though it is disabled?
Joe,
I extracted one of them and it has an audio track on the FLV, but it seems to be silence. Which is kind of strange but I guess valid.
This has become a big story all over the Net: http://mashable.com/2009/01/14/youtube-mutes-videos/
